Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Agricultural Situation, Vol. 34: June 1950 Although the problem of disposing of the nonstorable commodities is the most pressing, it should not be con cluded that there are no problems in connection with the large holdings of cotton, wheat, corn and other storable commodities. A lot of money is tied up in price support operations for these crops now, and more undoubtedly will be before we are able to strike a production balance. However, the solution lies in longer-range steps to adjust production in line with demand rather than in emergency disposal.
