Book excerpt: The purpose of this descriptive comparative secondary analysis isto describe the differences in the level of job satisfaction among registered nurses based upon geographic location (rural vs. urban). A modified version of the Index of Work Satisfaction (IWS)questionnaire was used in the primary study to measure job satisfaction. The surveyed Minnesota registered nurses' overal level of job satisfaction data illustrated no statistical difference between those practicing in urbaqn and rural work settings.
