Book excerpt: This evidenced-based practice (EBP) change project was an effective initiative resulting in positive change within the outpatient mental health clinic. The outcome findings were determined by a comparative data analysis of pre- and post-education knowledge questionnaire mean scores, as well as the mean scores of the pre- and post-implementation patient satisfaction survey results. The benchmark of a 20% increase in staff knowledge of effective communication skills and patients' satisfaction in specific areas of the project outcomes. Ultimately, investing in a communication education training intervention can translate into organizational policy change, improved population health, improved technological strategies, reduced healthcare costs, increased revenue within the organization, and improved healthcare delivery.
