He said, that during the last 50 years there has been a marked increase in the mean duration of human life both in America and Europe. A larger and larger percentage of persons live up to and through the reproductive and productive periods of life. Nor, apparently, had the end yet been reached, and yet hopeful as were the signs in regard to the general improvement in health and vitality, it could not help matters to expect and predict radical changes in conditions immediately or in the very near future.
