It's thought to be one of the few surviving primitive dog breeds from the ancient world. Some facts and qualities regarding Carolina Dogs are as follows: - Origin: Carolina Dogs are believed to be descended from ancient dogs that lived alongside Native American populations in the Southeastern United States for thousands of years. In the 1970s, they were discovered in the wild and swamplands of South Carolina, earning the moniker "Carolina Dog." - Outwardly, Carolina Dogs stand out from the pack. Dogs of this breed tend to be medium size, with a trim and muscular physique. They have a wedge-shaped head, erect ears that are frequently somewhat rounded at the points, and a curled tail. They often have a short, dense coat in shades of brown, ginger, or red with white markings. - These canines are notorious for their wild and free nature. They tend to keep their distance from outsiders but show their loyalty and affection to those they consider family. They are well-known for their hunting prowess and high prey drive. The unique "yodel-like" vocalization of a Carolina Dog is another feature for which this breed is famous. - Carolina Dogs are known for their intelligence and flexibility. When properly taught and socialized, they can become excellent participants in a variety of dog sports and activities. - High-Energy: To maintain happiness and good health, these dogs need to be exercised frequently. They need regular exercise, fun, and mental challenge to thrive. - Until their discovery in the wild in the 1970s, Carolina Dogs were mostly unknown to the general public. They are still an uncommon breed, and protection efforts are focused on keeping them that way. They thrive in active households where someone is ready to put in the work to train and socialize the dog.
