It pro fesses to be only a collection of facts in relation to the Valentine name and history, such as were ac cessible to the author. \vhatever could be obtained by patient research, by careful inquiry, and, by long and extensive correspondence, is here given: and, though it may contain a thousand imperfections, it is believed to comprise more information in re gard to the Valentines than any other book extant.i v Preface.
